Vehicle Sourcing – How It Works 

At Red House Auto, we find, buy, and prepare the right car or van for you without the usual dealership hassle. Here’s exactly how the process works, what you can expect from us, and what we’ll need from you.

1) Your brief

Tell us what you’re after (make/model, budget, mileage, age, must‑have features, colour, timing). The clearer the brief, the faster we can nail the right vehicle.

2) Trade‑only search

We search trade‑only sources (the same places the motor trade buys from) plus our dealer partners across most brands. This is where the best stock lives – much of it never makes public classifieds.

3) First look

When something looks promising, we’ll send 1–2 photos and a short summary (spec, mileage, condition headline, indicative price). This is a quick “is this in the right ballpark?” sense‑check.

4) Full details

If you’re interested, we’ll send full details: comprehensive photos, service history notes, condition report, checks, and a clear, no‑nonsense price that includes our preparation standards (see below).

5) Securing the vehicle

With your go‑ahead, we’ll try to secure the vehicle. These are live trade environments and, although we win most of the time, we can’t guarantee success every time. If we miss out, we continue the search immediately.

6) Deposit (sometimes)

If we do secure it, a small deposit may be requested at this point (not always necessary). We’ll confirm the amount and whether it’s needed before you commit.

Because of this approach, it’s not possible to see or test drive the car in advance. We understand this won’t work for everyone – but rest assured, you are in safe hands. The standards we set are very high, and you can check out our Google and AutoTrader reviews for proof.

7) Preparation to our standards

We collect the vehicle and prepare it to our Used Car Charter standards:

Thorough mechanical & cosmetic check

Full 12‑month MOT on every vehicle

Service completed if due (based on time/mileage)

Battery health test – we proactively replace weak/failing batteries even if they’re still starting the car

Tyres & brakes within sensible limits (we replace if below our thresholds)

Professional valet

Good quality mats as standard – replaced with our bespoke branded mats if originals are tired

HPI/vehicle history checks for peace of mind

Warranty included via our trusted partner – 6 months for vehicles up to £10,000, 12 months for vehicles over £10,000

8) Handover

Choose collection or UK delivery. We’ll complete final paperwork and set‑up (Bluetooth/CarPlay etc. where applicable). You’ll get a proper walk‑through at handover.

 

Pricing & fees

You’ll always get a clear total price before you commit to purchase.

Our fee is built into the price – no surprise add‑ons. We only sell you a car, nothing else.

Whilst we do not offer finance ourselves, we are a Zuto approved dealer. Various finance options are available through Zuto (subject to status).

We’re transparent about costs (preparation, warranty, logistics, VAT, and a sensible profit). If a deal doesn’t stack up, we’ll say so. 

 

FAQs

How long does it take?
Most searches complete within a few days to a couple of weeks depending on how specific the brief is.

What if we don’t win the car at auction?
No problem – we keep searching. We’ll often line up alternatives in parallel.

Part‑exchange?
Yes, we can consider your part‑exchange. Share the reg, mileage, history, pictures and any known issues for an accurate figure.

Finance?
Whilst we do not offer finance ourselves, we are a Zuto approved dealer and can connect you with them to explore finance options (subject to status).

Warranty?
Yes – a comprehensive warranty is included: 6 months for vehicles up to £10,000, 12 months for vehicles over £10,000.

Can I change my brief mid‑search?
Of course. Just tell us and we’ll adapt.

What if I’m not sure on spec?
Lean on us – we’ll give unbiased advice and suggest smart options that meet your needs and budget.
